This is ‘The Chamberlaine Floor’ featuring a wide cross-section of bicycles and children’s pedal cars from bygone years. You’ll find a plastic framed bike, a WW2 folding Paratroopers bike and a Sunbeam tricycle ridden by the actress Hattie Jacques in a couple of ‘Carry On’ films. There is a recreation of a period bicycle workshop featuring tools and spare parts, plus a mockup of a general store with many car parts and relevant products.
The pedal car display is popular with visitors of all ages.
Our ‘as found’ garage features a ‘barn find’ Flying Standard car and 1924 Triumph SD motorcycle housed in a ramshackle slightly derelict garage.
The Toys of Yesteryear shop is also to be found here, with some exhibits that younger visitors can play with.
